PixieEngine Used as a Framework for Data Integration with Non-MV Sources

It is a common scenario for organisations to have diverse legacy applications supported by different database systems. Access to data in these heterogeneous systems requires that the data integration process is best unified under a single framework - for example PixieEngine will support integration of data from multiple sources.

This is an alternative solution to the isolated data source issue, which is sometimes resolved by replacing existing legacy database systems with new integrated systems. It's not always possible to do this as starting over is time-consuming and expensive and few companies have the luxury of choosing this option.

There are many good reasons to leave data in different vendors' database systems, whether it's historical, functional, or cost-related. PixieEngine offers a versatile environment that will allow MV databases (e.g. D3, Universe) and non-MV databases (e.g. SQL_Server, Oracle, MySQL and MS Access) to interoperate through a set of supplied database drivers. This will allow end-user applications to be written in VB that have the capability to perform data integration processes across a range of heterogeneous database applications.

PixieEngine end-user applications provide an automated and seamless method for querying and updating across multiple heterogeneous databases in a uniform way. These applications can create a unified view of disparate data and treat it as if it all resides in one database. (This integration approach is often referred to as Enterprise Information Integration (EII).)

The PixieEngine software routines provide read and write access to Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Microsoft Access and a wide variety of MV databases.
